This week we have been looking at the landscapes of photographer Mikko Lagerstedt. Portraying the world through a different view, his photographs portray illustrations of a fictional narrative placed in his mysterious and sometimes haunting locations.
Mikko Lagerstedt was born in Finland in 1982. He had always been fascinated by art but it wasn’t until 2008 that photography crossed his path. Lagerstedt is a self taught photographer but his work reflects true detail and professionalism.
His most recent work is a series called ‘Night Animals’ that features wildlife wondering the streets of a small Finnish town. The final work is a collage of two photographs both taken and superimposed by Lagerstedt.
His aim is to engage the viewer in a realisation of the extraordinary aspects of life. His series ‘Alone’ won him third place at the International Photography Awards 2013 and his work ‘Moody Water’ gave him the second place at the Nikon Photo Awards as well as was named the Brändää Provinssi Crowds Favorite Photograph.
