In its eighth year running and recognised as one of the world’s leading photography competitions, the Terry O’Neill Photography Awards 2013 launches at The Strand Gallery this week!
Terry O’Neill is renowned for snapping icons such as Bridget Bardot, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and most recently the late Nelson Mandela and Amy Winehouse, and is an inspiration to the new generation of photographers.
Following the competition deadline on November 30th 2013, the Award judges, including our curator Giles Maffett, selected a shortlist of 50 from thousands of entries, to finally reach their selection of 10 photographers for the show.
To kick off the exhibition, the winners and runners up will be announced at the award ceremony on the evening of January 13th 2014, with all judges and photographers in attendance.
Jon Jones, Director of Photography, Sunday Times Magazine
The entries to the Award this year were impressive and the diverse themes, quality and maturity of the entries this year made the judging a real pleasure. It is satisfying to see the depth and diversity of talent the Award attracts.
